Description
Originally indigenous of Thailand, this garcinia is part of the same family as Mangosteen and is only recently being studied for its numerous health benefits. Other than often being used in cooking, the dried fruit is traditionally used for the treatment of coughs, to improve blood circulation, as a laxative, and as a expectorant.
Ethnobotanical and pharmacological reports described some of its significant medicinal and preservative properties. Studies have shown that different parts of Garcinia atroviridis exhibit strong anti-obesity effects, anti-diabetes, antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antitumor-promoting activities.
